Matt Wakeham holds a degree in Electical Engineering with 8 years experience as a Senior Project Engineer at Underwriters Laboratories and 15 more years representing a leading electrical manufacturer on several industry standards committees including IEEE and NEMA. He previously served as chair for IEEE/SPDC working group 3.6.6 including the Standard for Test Specifications for Surge Protective Devices; C62.62-2000. Matt is presently Vice Chair for the Protection of the Smart Grid working group, as well as participating on several others including Protection of Photovoltaics and Wind Generation Systems.
Matt is presently a voting member on UL Standards Technical Panels for Surge Protective Devices, UL1449; Lightning Protection Systems, UL96A; Current Taps & Adapters, UL498A; Sustainability for Luminaires, ULE106 and Low Voltage Lighting Systems, UL2108.
Extensive knowledge in product categories include surge protection, power supplies, energy management equipment, process controls, power tools, commercial food preparing equipment, power washers, wiring devices and electronic components.
Standards & Codes services include:
- Manufacturer’s representative to UL, ETL and CSA in fast-tracking your product submittals to gain required certifications in bringing products to market.
- Represent your company on industry standards and code development panels. This will enable you to know what new mandates might impact your business and how you can best position your product in the marketplace with respect to revisions to these requirements.
Memberships include IEEE Power & Energy Society, Product Safety Engineering Society, Electromagnetic Compatibility Society and IEEE Standards Association.
